Gratuity is based on your basic salary, not your total package.

Basic salary only, excluding housing, transport and other allowances.

Estimated end-of-service gratuity

AED 0

This is an indicative estimate based on the standard statutory formula in Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and is not legal or financial advice. Actual entitlements can vary with unpaid leave, part-time arrangements, gross-misconduct forfeiture (Article 44), free-zone jurisdictions such as DIFC and ADGM, and any Voluntary Savings Scheme your employer operates. Confirm final settlements with MOHRE or a qualified adviser. ClearPass HR Solutions can manage gratuity and full final settlements as part of payroll and offboarding.

How the calculation works

Your gratuity is 21 days of basic salary for each of your first five years of service, then 30 days of basic salary for every year after that. The daily rate is your basic monthly salary divided by 30, and the total is capped at two years' wage. You need at least one year of continuous service to qualify. Because the formula is set in federal law, the result is the same whether you work in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate.

Calculator FAQs

How does this gratuity calculator work?

It applies the statutory UAE formula: 21 days of basic salary for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year beyond, on a daily wage of your basic salary divided by 30, capped at two years' pay. Enter your basic salary and employment dates to see the estimate and a full breakdown.

Does it work for Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Gratuity is governed by federal law, so the calculation is the same across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and every emirate. The financial free zones DIFC and ADGM run separate systems, so check those individually.

Is gratuity based on basic or gross salary?

Basic salary only. Housing, transport and other allowances are excluded, which is why the calculator asks for your basic figure rather than your total package.

What is the minimum service period to qualify?

At least one full year of continuous service. Under twelve months does not qualify for any gratuity.

Managing leavers, not just calculating them

For employers, gratuity lands alongside the visa cancellation, the final WPS salary run, leave encashment and the end-of-service settlement, all on a deadline. ClearPass HR Solutions runs that full offboarding workflow as part of payroll, so a leaver's gratuity, final pay and visa cancellation move together rather than as separate handoffs. We manage payroll for more than 3,000 employees across over 135 UAE clients.
