Estimated overtime pay

AED 0

This is an indicative estimate based on the standard overtime rules in Articles 17 to 21 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and is not legal or financial advice. It calculates the hourly rate as basic salary divided by 30 then by 8; some employers use a different divisor. The law caps overtime at two hours a day unless needed to prevent loss. Shift workers scheduled at night may not receive the night premium, and some managerial roles are exempt from overtime. Confirm entitlements with MOHRE or a qualified adviser. ClearPass HR Solutions processes overtime correctly within WPS payroll and SIF submissions.

How overtime is calculated

Overtime in the UAE is paid on your basic salary, not your total package. Your basic hourly rate is your basic monthly salary divided by 30, then divided by 8 for a standard working day. Regular daytime overtime is paid at 1.25 times that rate, a 25% premium. Overtime worked between 10 PM and 4 AM, and work on your weekly rest day or a public holiday, is paid at 1.5 times the rate, a 50% premium, unless your employer grants a compensatory day off instead.

For example, on a basic salary of AED 6,000 the daily wage is AED 200 and the hourly rate is AED 25. Two hours of regular overtime is 2 x 25 x 1.25, which is AED 62.50. The law limits overtime to two hours a day unless it is needed to prevent loss or damage.
